Super Bowl LIII TV Spot Roundup
The America Football competition comes to a head with the battle for the championship, otherwise known as the Super Bowl. An enormous event in America that has an equally enormous audience. With it comes a huge marketing opportunity, so studios are willing to pay big bucks to get their new movies and TV shows to them. Here we round up the newly released footage.
Avengers: Endgame
Let’s not beat around the bush and start with the big one. A new taste of the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Avengers: Endgame.
Captain Marvel
Before Avengers: Endgame in April we get Captain Marvel in March. The movie introduces us to the shapeshifting aliens called Skrulls, goes deeper into the Kree, and most of all introduces us to Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel.

Hobbs & Shaw
The first Fast & Furious spin-off movie, starring Dwayne Johnson (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) and Jason Statham (The Meg), released a first trailer especially for the Super Bowl.
Alita: Battle Angel
The James Cameron (Avatar) and Robert Rodriguez (Predators) produced adaptation of Japanese manga Gunnm or Battle Angel Alita tries to bring you to the theatre with this spot.
Toy Story 4
Pixar’s next movie to be released is the fourth movie in the Toy Story franchise. This time the living toys end up at a theme park.
Hanna
Amazon Prime Video is this year’s streaming service that wants your attention post-game. They have released their first episode of their TV remake of the 2011 movie Hanna. The seven remaining episodes of its first season will be released in March.
The Handmaid’s Tale

Sex & The City meets The Big Lebowski
Our first (actual) commercial is one that had been talked about quite a bit before the Super Bowl. On social media teases were giving of Jeff Bridges reprising his role of Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski from the Coen Brothers movie The Big Lebowski. Rather than a sequel to that movie it turned out to be this crossover with Sarah Jessica Parker of The Sex and the City fame.
Game of Bud Light
From HBO and Bud Light we get this really weird Game of Thrones beer commercial, which has to be seen to be believed.

(Skynet AKA) Alexa
Amazon also dipped into the Super Bowl commercials with one for their Alexa virtual assistant, used via the Amazon Echo device. With help of Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones) and Forrest Whitaker (Rogue One), Amazon thought it a good idea to show consumers what can all go wrong with their product. But hey, it’s a good laugh!
Terminator Junior
Keeping with the Terminator theme, this nightmare fuel.

The Halftime Show
And then finally there was the Halftime Show by Maroon 5 and featuring Travis Scott & Big Boi. Maroon 5 was already criticised for taking the gig after multiple other artists declined because of the social turmoil the NFL is involved in. Now there are even more critical takes to this performance. Gaining a massive amount of dislikes, the NFL YouTube channel apparently pulled down and then re-uploaded the video for a better like/dislike ratio, if we can believe the comments section. Whatever the case, it did not help. Give a look for yourself, and know that it may contain some SpongeBob SquarePants.
Bonus: The full SpongeBob SquarePants video
For those wanting to see more than those couple of seconds of SpongeBob during the Halftime Show, we’ve got you covered.
That should be all the noteworthy footage coming from Super Bowl LIII. What did you think of them? Have we missed anything? Leave a comment!
