Evanescence: A Ghost Story For Christmas

Chilling tales of terror told around the log fire with a mug of mulled wine and a warm blanket have been a Christmas tradition for decades – nay, centuries! So, this Christmas Eve, in the grand tradition of Montague Rhodes James, we present to you Evanescence: A Ghost Story For Christmas, written and performed by our very own Paul Childs.

The story is generally suitable for all ages but does have some mild language at 5:34 and 8:32 (and it goes without saying that this is a scary story) so parents might want to check that out before allowing their children to listen.

Paul also writes for his website Badgers Crossing where you will find a variety of spooky stories to read, including the full text for this very tale if you’re interested in reading along.

The music in this production was used by permission of Three Chain Links under the Creative Commons Attribution License. Tracks are Aether, Monolith and In Dreams from the album Phantoms.

Visit the Three Chain Links Soundcloud page for more excellent 80s movie inspired synthwave.

And if this whets your appetite for more spooky shenanigans then check out Pod Cat’s Christmas recommendation – Shadows At The Door!

As well as writing for Den of Geek and Your Truth, Paul also runs Badgers Crossing, a site for ghost stories. He loves the 1980s and thanks to a keen interest in Public Information Films he has never been electrocuted or set himself on fire.
