Avatar Sequel Titles Revealed at Last?

It’s been nearly ten years after the first Avatar movie was released in theaters.  Despite mixed reviews director James Cameron seemed hellbent on pushing the franchise forward. Cameron announced that not one, not two, but four sequels were in development. Finally, almost a decade later we are starting to see some real movement on the four films Cameron has promised us.

Like a mad scientist, Cameron has spent much of the past decade locked away in either a submarine studying deep underwater life or in the studio writing and developing the necessary technology to film…whatever he’s got brewing.

Cameron eventually talked in a brief interview about the rough overview of the four movies; including other clans and the lineages of the characters from the first movie. We had even heard sometime back that filming for parts 2 and 3 were well underway. Yet, not so much as a single behind the scenes snap shot has appeared online. Which, given the nature of modern technology and social media is somewhat odd. It has been almost complete radio silence from the legendary director.

Now,  BBC News has claimed to have seen some more in depth documentation of the franchises development. This includes what many believe to be the titles for the four movies.

  • Avatar: The Way of Water
  • Avatar: The Seed Bearer
  • Avatar: The Tulkun Rider
  • Avatar: The Quest for Eywa

While it is entirely likely these are just working titles, they do give us the first real glimpse into this new space fantasy epic from a nearly unparalleled talent in Hollywood.

The first Avatar sequel  is set to debut in cinemas on December 18th 2020, with the following movies arriving December 17th 2021, December 20th 2024, and December 19th 2025, respectively.

Shortly after hearing the news, KJ McDougall went into his office and promptly came back covered head to toe in blue body paint. He was wearing only a loin cloth and carried a broom stick a loft like a spear. The speed at which he changed meant that either A. he’d been wearing the loin cloth and much of the make up under his clothes – long before he had any inkling of an announcement.  Or B. he does this a lot. Frankly, at this point, we were just grateful there was a loin cloth this time.
