Halloween Countdown 2018 – Day 20 The Faculty (1998)

Greetings my Movie Ghouls!

Last year in our Halloween Countdown we watched Invasion of the Body Snatchers from 1978. This year I wanted to watch a similar movie, so I chose The Faculty from 1998.

The Faculty

Growing up I really enjoyed this movie. I was 13 and grew up in the cold bleak North of England, and really wanted to be in that school. Ok, I didn’t, it was being taken over by aliens, but you know what I mean.

Basically, The Faculty is a copy of Invasion of the Body Snatchers but with a school twist. Robert Patrick plays a great mean gym teacher who is taken over first. Elijah Wood plays the student who seems to have all the answers.

It takes the idea of a small town being taken over and the alien using it as a base to spread across the world.

The one problem with it is that the gang quickly decide there’s a queen controlling everything. At the same time, there’s one new student who arrived that day.

It’s an obvious surprise, but even so, the film makes up for it by being entertaining as hell. It’s not too scary, but as a 13-year-old, it was scary enough for me.
