Halloween Countdown 2018 – Day 12 The Conjuring 2 (2016)

Greetings my Movie Ghouls!

Tonight is the 12th night of our Halloween Countdown. We’re watching the sequel to The Conjuring, which we watched in last year’s Halloween Countdown. The Conjuring 2.

The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Haunting

This film is, and I say this as a realisation after rewatching, that it is one of my favourite horror films. It’s well made, it doesn’t rely on the usual and obvious jump scares and it tells a good convincing story.

Being based in the Enfield Haunting that actually happened in the 70’s, I find this film terrifying. Funnily enough, I find the addition of the demon nun the downside. Even though it got its own spin off prequel (which I need to see!).

Looking into it, the Warren’s did come to the house. But they only stayed a day and then left. But it’s still a compelling movie.

Funnily enough around the same time there was a Sky TV show called the Enfield Haunting released. It starred Timothy Spall as Maurice Grosse, and concentrated on the loss of his daughter.

For me I feel the Enfield Haunting is a frightening thing. Being made into a film was enevitable. The Conjuring 2 is maybe a perfect haunted House film. I would go as far and say it is better than the first film.

The tapes are fairly accurate, the haunting itself is accurate. Even though they increase the involvement of the Warren’s it still works as a good film.

My one gripe is just how unbelievable the size of the house is, and the fact they have a remote for the telly. But I won’t let that bother me.
