Our Favourite Kickstarter Campaigns: Spring 2019
As you may know, I like surprises, I like the internet, I like buying things and I love Dragon’s Den, so Kickstarter and Me are a match made in heaven. What I love about it is its unpredictability. I can go months without backing anything, and then I can have several on the go at once – but there’s always a little something for everyone. So here are some of WGN’s favourite current campaigns:
Book – White Pines by Gemma Amor
As well as writing audio dramas for several horror podcasts including the critically acclaimed No Sleep, The Wicked Library, The Grey Rooms and WGN’s chums at Shadows At The Door, Gemma has also published a short story collection called Cruel Works Of Nature.
Now she hopes to bring her first full-length novel, White Pines, to life with your help. So if you fancy a spooky read that sounds like it takes inspiration from the best of Twin Peaks, Stephen King’s Under The Dome and the legend of Roanoke why not consider backing it!

Card Game – Throw Throw Burrito
If there’s one thing Kickstarter does well, it’s that it brings us new, exciting tabletop games. Games which are now (mostly) household names such as Unstable Unicorns, Ghostbusters, Campy Creatures, Fireball Island, Tortuga 1667, Card Against Humanity and Exploding Kittens all started life as a crowdfunded endeavour.
Speaking of Exploding Kittens (which is a blast, if you’ve never played it), its makers have now come up with a new venture which is described as “Half card game, half dodgeball”.
Sounds hilarious, fun-filled and dangerous.

Board Game – Ghost Star
Speaking of games, if there’s one thing that’s bound to get any hardcore gamer down, it’s having nobody to play with. And that’s why sci-fi-horror game Ghost Star is so interesting – it’s for just one player.
So if you fancy a bit of Alien-esque tension, you should definitely give this a go.
